Free Kindle Downloads for 5/30/2012

One of the best treats we gave ourselves last christmas were tablets that we purchased on HSN and paid monthly through 4 and 5 months. I loved being able to read in bed without the light on, my husband liked that part too, and the tablet was much lighter to hold than a book. I still love real books but with money being the way it is, I just can't justify buying as many books as I would like to do, this is a great alternative.
I already had the free Kindle application downloaded to my laptop, but with the tablet I could do the same thing and there are a bunch of freebies daily at different sites.
Today's free Kindle downloads are from Pixel of Ink. Please note that they are only available for free for a short amount of time, usually 24 hours, and then they go back up in price. Be sure to check the price before you download.

Here's the link to check out the titles available from Pixel of Ink:

Wednesday morning - 4 free books on kindle
Wednesday afternoon - 6 more free kindle books
Wednesday night - 6 free books on kindle

You can also join Pixel of Ink's Facebook Page here to get your own reminders -

Very Hungry Caterpillar - Author Reads Aloud

Barnes and Noble has the coolest thing which I've talked about before.
An online storytime read by the authors of children's books or by actors.

May's story is The Very Hungry Caterpillar read by author Eric Carle:

If you look below the viewing window you'll see a playlist of older books for more fun online reading.
Next Tuesday, June 5th the title changes. Enjoy!

Book Updates and Polar Express online for the kids

Currently reading Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn on my tablet. I downloaded it for free one day and I'm so glad did, I'm really enjoying it, very hard to put down. You can actually still read the first chapter for free but its no longer available as a full download for free.
Transfer of Power look on the right hand side for a button that says "read first chapter".

Up until Monday night you can still catch the online storytime on Barnes and Noble's site, December's book has been The Polar Express read by Chris Van Allsburg. The title changes on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Our son received two of the Find Waldo books for Christmas and just loves them. He got the first two books of the series.

Also, before Christmas we heard about The Elf On Shelf, I wasn't thinking about getting it until we saw it in Target and I explained to our son what it was all about. He then had to have one so we adopted our Elf with the book in a box and took him home. The following couple of weeks of finding our Elf, Nick, around the house each day was a huge event leading up to Christmas. If you can still find one in stores on online consider purchasing it ahead of time for next Christmas. I'll post more about this later.

I'll also be posting some of the free downloadable books in the future, it seems you must be quick on some of them, because they end quickly.
Here's the first one, only available this weekend.
Two books - Bad Radio and Walker by Michael Langlois.
